The Cosmic Noise Survey, from Harvard College Observatory (1958?). From a time when signal was noise and ALMA was a famous Viennese woman known for her beauty and vivacity.
Schrödinger’s epitaph in Alpbach. What is life?
Time to leave Sydney, which is sad, but missing wife and kids back home. What a great trip down under: got the “big fish” (the brick) and found even greater fish to follow. Thank you Jill, Jason, Steve, Shari, Kate, Juan Carlos, Jim, and Madusha for such a great time! Hope to see you in central Europe soon.
RCW plate 2, including the Vela region (on the right) for my Vela friends. Orders of magnitude more information that my camera-phone can dream to capture. I didn’t realize before that the supernova remnant (one of the closest to Earth) extends degrees above the Galactic plane. What a beautiful mess. Can you find the awesome RCW38?
Finally got my hands on the RCW plates at the CSIRO library in Marsfield. Beautiful photographic plates (from Mount Stromlo) with subtle but clear differences on the “blackness” of dark clouds at different distances. I think I found a new nearby cloud just by looking.
